Finishing Works: What to Expect
Scope depends on which finishing trade you need: wall cladding panels fitted edge to edge and cut cleanly around fixtures and corners; cornice or ceiling trim installed with mitred joints and, where wanted, an LED channel built in; or skirting and plinth run along the base of every wall. Cladding is commonly a slat wood panel; cornices are typically a cove profile. Because each of the three is a different trade, they can be booked together as one finishing-works project or separately, whichever suits the work ahead. These jobs usually run from a day or two for a single room's skirting up to a week or more for cladding or cornices across a larger area, depending on how much cutting and fitting around corners and fixtures is involved.
One wall cladding project in our gallery shows a wood slat panel fitted edge to edge, with the flush plate worked cleanly around a cistern in the corner. A cornices project shows a cove cornice with an integrated LED downlight channel, installed and lit.
